Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Simon Yao immigrated to the United States in 1990.  Inspired by his vision of the East with his experiences upon moving to the west, Yao's photography is infused with the perfect amount of modern sophistication along with a touch of timeless elegance.

His entrance into photography was purely serendipitous; he discovered his true passion when he completed his first elective photography class at The Ohio State University, while earning his bachelor's degree in business. Simon had the opportunity to further cultivate his photography skills by working with distinguished portrait artists after graduation.  Then, in 1999, he started his own venture - Simon Yao Studio - in his small two-bedroom apartment.  Having found an idyllic permanent location in 2002, the studio is now located on the northwest side of Columbus, nestled within the serene setting of Brookside estates.

Simon enjoys being a frequent photo contributor to The Knot, Columbus Bride and WeddingChannel.com.  His work has also been displayed at Polaris Fashion Place, Saks Fifth Avenue and other boutique stores around Columbus.  As Simon Yao Studio journeys into its 16th year in business, Simon's work nowadays consists of many returning clients, families, children and babies; as well as a selected number of weddings.  "As a full-time photographer, it's a perfect balance between weekdays and weekends, and it keeps my senses sharp and tuned.  Most importantly, it allows me to deliver the best services to my clients," says Simon.

What motivates him is his love of photography and working with clients to create exceptional photographs.  His genuine, warm personality, combined with absolute professionalism, allows his clients to feel at ease, yet at the same time, reflects his passion for photography.
